Sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't place it. Do you know any of the words? Male or female singer? Anything else?

Hi
I'm looking for a classic ballad from the 70's-80's
Unfortunately I don't have any excerpt so I've uploaded a whistle recording done by myself
4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Track 1.MP3
any clue?
Thanks!

That's a big help. Looking....
I'm gonna have to think on this one some more. I'd swear I know it, but I just can't get it to gel in my head. One song I came up with is Rex Smith's "You Take My Breath Away" from 1979, but it doesn't really match your melody. Am I on the right track?
Unfortunately the song I'm looking for is not Rex Smith. Maybe I'm wrong regarding the song date cause it may be between 1973 and 1979.
Anyway thank you for the help.
A couple others I came up with are Earth, Wind & Fire's "After The Love Has Gone" from 1979:
and Gino Vanelli's "Living Inside Myself" from 1981:
Neither really matches your melody any better than The Rex Smith song, though. Let me do some more digging in the '73-'76 range and see what I find.
After the love has gone and Living inside myself were superhits but the song I'm looking for was kind of average airplay sucessful.
I think similar tunes were Rupert Holmes' Him, Billy Paul's Me & Mrs. Jones etc.
Also I feel a bit of latin/maybe caribbean vibe ala Charles Aznavour, Engelbert Humperdinck's After The Lovin or the vibe of a 90's song named Can't Do A Thing of Chris Isaak.
Mind a 70's song sung by a male with female backing choruses.
Hmmm... the plot thickens... :icon_confused:
this reminds me of the late 60s when I'd go to record stores with my sister. Without fail, someone would be there trying to buy a record they didn't know the title of, and they'd actually stand there singing it to the employees. But this only happened in "ethnic" stores, never in department stores. I was always too embarrassed to do that, the fact that I can't sing notwithstanding.
Well, I'm at a loss for now. :icon_question: I dug around and did some listening on Amazon yesterday, but didn't come up with anything. Last night I went through the entire Top Pop 1955-1993 book (all songs that made the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts) and nothing jumped out at me.
I've got the melody in my head now, so if I hear a song and recognize it, I'll let you know. I just know that I know the song.
I'll try a few....
Toto-Georgy Porgy
Player - Baby Come Back
Little River Band - Reminiscing
or....
Boz Scaggs - Lowdown
I remembered better the song so I've recorded it again:

Kiss - Beth?
YouTube - Beth- KISS
Do you have even 1 or 2 words?
Is it about broken love or love that is shared?
Is it American? :icon_question:
White male or black male? :icon_cool:
Kiss??? No!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaaaaaaaa
Sorry but I don't remember any word.
I think it is about shared love cause the melody is not sad but romantic and pleasant near to passionate.
I don't know if the artist is american or not but the lyrics are in english.
I believe the singer is white ala BJ Thomas.
