I asked a dj about a 1970's disco song that goes into jungle like intros, and he said a song called French Affair, I believe this is a very rara song because i can't find it any where. Can anyone give any info about this song? What year it came out of? Was it released on 12 single, LP or both? Record label? Artist? Thanx.......Adam
The 1978 track "French Affair" is performed by the girlie group New Paradise and was realesed on Ibach label as the b-side to 7"/12" "Disco People USA". The 3 girls used to be called Paradise Birds and did put out 2 okay eurodisco albums. As New Paradise they were still around recording hi-nrg during the early 80's.
However, I just had a listen to the thing and I don't think it's the one you want - no Hot Voodoo Drums And Jungle Rhythm there. The French Affair is a very light chirpy one and clearly not set in any humid, sexually charged rain forest, where dancers tear off their Guccis to dance naked around a fire, all glistening with sweat. By the way, what did you mean with "jungle" to begin with, does the track have like lots of tribal conga sounds and drumming or does it contain actual drum&bass influences, in other words is it "junglist" in that more recent sense?
