    Two questions Robbie:

That Kleeer track - is that the same as the electro sounding "Tonight" (with the vocoder and all)

The Goody Goody name - is that Robert "Goody" Whitfield...I was asking if anybody knew him in another thread a few weeks ago, bur nobody seemed to do so.

As far as I know, GOODY GOODY was just a moniker for Vincent Montana jr.. The cover is anonimous (but very very nice  ) and no Whitfield is named on it

I like your tunes, Robbie! Some real good ones in there.

It always seems to be a topic of interest these days - what version of Whistle Bump do you have? We were lucky in the UK as they put out the full length verison on the B-side of a 12-inch - and I was playing it only last weekend ....

One other comment - if I had been a regular club Dj - I would have used the instrumental version of You + Me = Love as my theme tune. I used to DJ occasionally in a club and at University.

The "Tonight's The Night" song I have by Kleeer includes the vocoder on it. He says, "Tonight's the night" throughout it and during the break he starts to laugh.

    Jazz Pilgrim--

I have two versions of "Whistle Bump" on CD. One version I have is a 4:29 edit, and much to my surprise, it doesn't sound choppy at all. The other version I have clocks in at around 7:48. This might have been the 12" version. I have the 11:11 version of "You + Me= Love" on CD as well. That is a song that is hard to find on compilation CD's, especially the full-length version. Thanks for your comments on my picks!!

I have the original Undisputed Truth LP on vinyl (with the full length version), plus a shorter 7-inch version.

Tell me, Robbie, does your CD cover have the same tasty picture of Taka Boom on it that my LP cover has?? :D

I guess as it's a compilation that the answer is no.

"You + Me= Love" I have on a compilation CD that was an import from Europe. Taka Boom wasn't on the cover but there was a shot of a crowd outside Studio 54 on the front (that had even more detail in the inner sleeve).

The Disco Connection CD that Robbie speaks of is the only one that I have seen that contains the complete You + Me = Love track.

I don't hear any vocoder on this track at all... just a *very* low pitched voice, possibly pitch-shifted down.

Kleeer's musical direction changed considerably over their LPs. "Tonight's The Night" is from their debut "I Love To Dance" LP, which is pure disco. Kleeer's later output is much more electro-funk-R&B.

BTW, I can not praise "I Love To Dance" enough. This is probably the most underrated disco album ever; I guess it got overlooked in the glut of '79. Think of the classy sounds of Chic, but less fluffy, and with some excellent mid-tempo numbers too. A great LP from start to end.

    Thanks Graham
That clears things out for me. Robbie & I must be talking about two different song. The "Tonight" i'm talking about is a mostly instrument jam from the "Intimate Connection" period.
