It was the Moments and Whatnauts and "Girls" from 1975 - it was a top 10 hit in the UK. A wonderful record it was too - very summery indeed!
The Moments later recorded as Ray, Goodman and Brown.

Hi all!
Im stuck as to finding out the name and the group who performed a song, it was rather summery sounding, I only know the lyrics, hope you can help!!!
"Girls, I like them fat, I like them skinny, so pretty , so tall, I want to get to know them all!
"Girls sunshine in their hair, funky clothes they wear, got to be where they go!"
And then it goes into the start of another verse with "I'd like to be on an island"
And thats all I know!
Thanks :D

You are very welcome!
It's nice to see people who were born post-disco era taking an interest in the Seventies music scene! Welcome along!
I am sure there must have been a Moments CD compilation released in the UK at some time. Happy hunting ... :)
I absolutely adored this track when it came out, it had that special something you can't define in words, an almost magical quality in the overall sound. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that at 15 (as I was) a record called 'Girls', especially with it sounding so cool, pretty much said it all!
When I dug it out for a listen years later I thought the lyrics were hilarious, including one of the classic sexist lines of all time - 'I'd like to be on an island with five or six of those fine ones, give me one that ain't good looking, they're the ones to do the best cooking...'!
It just got me wondering about the way some tracks take on a totally different meaning as you get older.
LITTLE KNOWN FACT:
One of the most enjoyable cover of "Girls" was recorded by the Female duo SAY WHEN around 1987, they were produced by the Dutch arrangers E. Van Tijn and J. Fluitsma (responsable for "History" by Mai Tai and "Mutual Attraction" by Sylvester) under the guise of "Boys", the track made a clever use of the gender-change from the original, if you don't know it, look for it!!!!!
