    *****

This one is an EASY one for me ...

Setting disco aside ... just for a moment ... I would LOVE to hear Bonnie elaborate on my favorite country song of all-time .....[and that's saying a lot and surprises even me ...because there are so many great country songs to be loved ] .....
the one Bonnie co-wrote with her sister Anita back in '74 : FAIRYTALE.

I know they really worked the song back then but oddly I don't think it did as well on the country charts ....(and believe me Bonnie, I personally requested it of Buck Owen's KUZZ radio station several times to deaf ears there :icon_mad:) ... as it did on the Hot 100 where it went to #13. :icon_cool:

Just think had it "took" ...The Pointers might have gone country completely ...and we'd have had no Pointer disco !!! :icon_razz: ......

Well one notable person in particular took to the song :

Although I think The Sisters handle their song much much better

    :icon_cool:

I guess funneled down the question I have is this :

Is FAIRYTALE dear to Bonnie's heart ? & How in the world did it come about??

    thank you !!!

I've always loved Bonnie Pointer :icon_cool: Her voice is so distinctive and unique!

    1. Why the original Pointer Sisters split in 1977? Why they never reunited after? No reunion plans with her sisters Ruth and Anita now?
    2. Who came with the idea of the disco remix of "Heaven must have sent you" and who did it?
    3. What does she sing during the scat moments at the end of "Heaven must have sent you"? "It's happening"? "It's a sin"? I've got no idea
    4. There is more of her material in the Motown vault?
    5. Why the two Motown albums (1978 and 1979) have the same name?
    6. Why she didn't release albums between 1979 and 1984? And after?

Just to ask what was it like backing Sylvester in the early days (was she part of that?). And how was he when the Pointers started getting famous?
    Hope I got that right.

    Cheers!

Dayna, can you please ask Bonnie if she remembers Bobby Moske? He's one of our lighting team at the Remember the Party events and a long time Trocadero fan. Before that, he worked with the P. Sisters. He and others on our RtP team told me some fun stories of their early days! Apparently, Sylvester was instrumental in dressing them when they had the 40's chic look especially for the first Blue Thumb album. We were told the ladies were wearing outfits from Sylvester's personal collection of retro garments and that Sylvester supervised the outfit choice for each sister. Sylvester began scouring San Francisco thrift stores for such items during his Cockettes years. Can she elaborate? Thank you!

Miss Dayna-I loved how she did her own backing vocals and on
my favorite Bonnie track "Free me From my Freedom" she sounds
positively gospel.Did harmonizing with her sisters for all those
years give her the confidence to arrange all her own backing vocals?
    Thanks Thom

I'm just curious about the Pinball Song from Sesame Street. Did the Pointer Sisters get approached by their regular producer (David Rubinson) to do the track for Sesame Street? Or did Sesame Street approach them directly, and they in turn got the music set up? And who are the musicians on the recording? Were they members of The Headhunters? Was Herbie Hancock playing on that track?

Oh yeah, maybe I should ask about what was it like on the set of Car Wash. Was it pretty crazy with guys like Carlin and Pryor around?

    Can't wait for this interview!

If you're able to, I'm wondering if you can ask her how she ended up on Motown, why she eventually left the label after her two self-titled albums and what her impressions were of her time there..

Also, if I can ask another, it's widely rumoured that Sly Stone played on her first album, but was uncredited due to some tax issues he was having at the time. Just wondering if Bonnie can confirm whether or not that was true..

    Thanks!

    On the subject of...

Did Bonnie know that this song was so huge on the underground club scene in the UK and extremely sought after that a couple of years ago it was put out on a limited 12" with a special extended version?

    Strange but true.

Re: Taking Questions for My BONNIE POINTER Interview

On the topic of why there wasn't any reunion between Bonnie and her three sisters, I was wondering if there was any talk of her rejoining them when they had their big success in the mid 80s? And I don't know if you can ask this, or if it might be too touchy, was she envious of the success her sisters had during that period?

Edit: Sorry, scratch these questions. Wikipedia says there was some bad blood aired around the time of sister June's passing in 2006. I don't know how accurate that is, but I don't want to stir up any bad feelings if there are any. Still, it would be interesting to hear if there was any talk of the sister's reuniting in the future for a concert tour or album.

Ask her how she feels to have had a hit in discos with one of the few that ever used a banjo -- like she did in Heaven Must Have Sent You...unless I'm deaf and it's something else... LOL

    Hey Dayna,
Ask her if she has any memories of Car Wash that she can share, in particular working with Pryor and Dixon.
    Find them and destroy them!

Dayna: my 2 questions for Bonnie are 1. How did she react when she saw "Free Me"'s lyric: "Tie me to a tree! Handcuff me!" and 2. I read somewhere that the Pointer family grew up in MY neighborhood! I grew up on 90th Avenue in East Oakland, Northern California. Is the family really from that neighborhood also? Did any of them attend Elmhurst Junior high school? Thanks Dayna, I sure enjoy your interviews.

I always wondered why Bonnie wore a pink outfit, while the other sisters wore white on the Car Wash film. I wonder if it meant anything?

    Thanks guys..
This one will take much more time to come to fruition than some..
Bonnie's schedule is tight plus I'm going back and forth from Florida to Tennessee lounging in the loft my Fiancee',"my mountain man as Stephen so sweetly touted him in his dedicated to me on air" built us over looking the mountains..hehe..while we get our ducks in a row for the wedding..But even though I'm a busy lady I will get to it..
Although I will be devoting more time to being a wife in the near future .Honey it's a full time job to stoke a man's ego plus fulfill all your other wifely duties....
