I was shoppin' on Saturday and I saw a few items I was curious about.

I saw a CD with remixes of all the First Choice hits. I shudder to think what they've done to my songs, ma...but has anyone heard this? Opinion?

I also came acroos a 2 vinyl set of "Disco Spectrum Vo.2". Anyone have this?

I bought a remix of The Originals "Down To Love Town" with another good song on the back that, of course, I now can't remember. I'll have to check the stats on this tonight. It's on an orange label. I think it's newly done. Ring a bell?

The First Choice remixes sound awfully scary, but I have no first-hand knoweldge.

The Disco Spectrum 2 comp is excellent and I have this on CD.

Highly recommended although you may want to compare the track listing of the vinyl and CD since I thought one may have extra tracks.

The Disco Spectrum series, along with the Jumpin' set, are what revived my interest in disco (and brought me to this website). After some labels just about exhausted the Top 40 hits with the many compilations that flooded the CD market a few years back, this set was a breath of fresh air. The set was so good that I began buying vinyl again to find similarly great tunes.

I haven't listened to the First Choice remix set (reconstruction set?) but reviews have not been favorable, except from those who think that "re-making" a song through remixing is a good thing.

    Hi Discodjinn,

Did you buy the CD or vinyl "Disco Spectrum" sets? Bernie indicated there might be more or different tracks on the CD as opposed to the vinyl. Anyone know the differences?

Now, as for that last item: I found a 12" mix of "Down To Love Town" b/w a 12" mix of "Date With The Rain" by Eddie Kendricks --both remixed and approx 8+ minutes long. They aren't updated but more like dubby instrumental with the vocals too. Does anyone know where these came from? There are no credits of remixing, just the original producers names and the original year of release. I wasn't crazy about the remixes but I only listened once, so they may grow on you.

    Hello markydefad-

I bought the CD version of Disco Spectrum. I can't say anything about the differences in vinyl, but a track listing for compact disc is available on Amazon.com (I'd write them out for you here, but I'm away from home.)
