DIMMI DIMMI by Dalla-Morandi-Malavasi

Hoping some of our Italian friends can enlighten me.

Back in 1988 I bought a 12" import on RCA (PT 42252), distributed by BMG Ariola, titled "Dimmi Dimmi". It's sung by (Lucio) Dalla & (Gianni) Morandi. Although I can't understand a word of it, it's still one of my favorite sleaze pieces, clocking in around 98 BPM. Do any of you remember this song and could possibly give me an overview of what's going on? M. Malavasi was part of the writing team and either helped in remix or production.

After the disco years, around the mid 80s, Malavasi began to work with italian artists, writing and producing.
Dalla & Morandi are two of the most famous italian pop singers. They worked together for an album and some live concerts around that time, and I think Malavasi produced their record. Malavasi also produced one or more solo albums for Lucio Dalla.

One of the most catchy Malavasi-produced tracks by Dalla is titled "Washington". Another great italian Malavasi-produced track is "Mare mare" by Luca Carboni

Thanks, Giovanni. The song sounds great to my ears but can you give me a gist of what these two guys are singing about? People used to ask me and I'm like, "As if I know". Curiosity is killing me. :)
