I knew I had this one....

It's "True Confessions" from Herb Alpert's 1983 LP "Blow Your Own Horn"...produced by Herb Alpert & Holland-Dozier-Holland!!!! H-D-H co-produced 2 tracks on this LP and this is one of them; the other is the LP title track. The key "hit" track was was "Garden Party."
