SO, WHAT WAS YOUR BEST NIGHT IN A DISCO?

Yeah, I know this ain't easy. I have sooo many memories, but a few stick in the memory.
Probably the most memorable was a night when myself and a few other DJ colleagues put together a Riverboat Shuffle Disco. It was on a Sunday night in the summer of 1979. Basically, it was a chance for us to do a little work and then really 'go to town' and 'let our hair down'. For this particular evening we hired a small pleasure boat, had about 120 paying customers (who just happened to be the very best party animals from our respective venues) and we cruised The Solent for about 3 hours or so, stopping off at Cowes on the Isle of Wight for about 40 minutes.
If I tell you that it was a fancy dress evening and most people turned up pleasantly happy and were roaring within 20 minutes of leaving the quay you might get some idea of how good the evening was. We played all the absolute best disco sounds you could imagine, people danced absolutely all night and the party didn't stop once we landed. Luckily my then boss and his wife were among the party people that night. So, all we did was jump in cars and taxis and carry on back at the club I was then working, for several more hours. The boss even got cooking burgers, chips and chilli so that we could all soak up the cost price booze that we were still downing. Everyone took a turn a being barman/woman and we DJs kept spinning the sounds, but in a most informal, increasingly haphazard way. Everyone, but everyone just got off so much to the vibe of the whole thing, even though most of them had work to go to in the morning. It truly was a night to remember.

QUINNY...That sounded like you had a blast. Oh what memories. Everytime I hear certain songs, many nights come flying back. I'm so happy to have lived those days. Like you said there are many, many nights to remember. I can't really say a certain time. The 70's and 80's were a time that I was coming out. I was meeting new people and finally seeing "HEY! I WASN'T THE ONLY GAY PERSON IN TOWN".
The bars were packed. Every bar that I went to was packed with people dancing to songs like "Haven't stopped dancing yet", "Funkytown", "Celebration". God! What I wouldn't give to be back there. Sorry I can't give you just one night, but there were lots of mornings I woke up with a hangover swearing off drinking, only to be back at the bars that night with friends to do it all over. One of the nicest memories I have is a simple matter of asking the DJ to play "Feels like I'm in love" by Kelly Marie. It's when it first came out, but he wouldn't play it for me right away, he would always wait until it was the last song..then that music would fade in, everybody started screaming and packing the floor. Even if you didn't have a partner you'ld get on the floor. It would be sooo packed. Then those last couple of notes from the song would end, the lights would come up. It was magic. 8)
QUINNY..I must admit, those were the days. I can only say this, a lot of my friends are gone leaving me with only memories of the great disco days I had with them. I hope heaven is one big dance place where they're dancing all the time. And I hope when I get there, happy hour would just be starting, and Patrick Cowley would be spinning
"Menergy". I can't wait to hear others tell tails.....
Ok, another great time I remember IS happy hour, sitting around the bar with my friends before the bar would get busy and before the DJ would start, and just laugh and have fun and listen to 45's on the jukebox. Oh yah.....and cruise. :D
    \"Dancing the night away\", forever!!!
    Don\'t give up the dance.
