in yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle (they're performing in my neighborhood soon at the Paramount theatre in Oakland). Unfortunately, it seems the writer of the article probably was not much of a fan of the group (based on the questions he asked) but I'm sure everyone assumed the group broke up because Patti LaBelle wanted to go solo, but it turned out all 3 of them wanted to pursue different types of music: Sara Dash was interested in gospel, Nona Hendryx in rock (and ROCK she Did!) and Labelle wanted to do more ballads. The writer mentioned Hendryx's solo hit ("Why Should I Cry"?) but never mentioned Dash's record which did well in the clubs, on Megatone Records (produced by Patrick Cowley). And they spoke more than once of the group's gay fans, Labelle mentioning that many gay men came in drag to her solo shows.
