I'll break my I Will Not Support Any Scientologists Ever rule and see this, as judging by the trailers the sets / cges? look really good in a bleak way. But why did they decide to use Tom Cruise in that role? Still, better him than Tom Hanks.
The new Tom Cruise pic gets raving reviews over here. "Valkyrie" is the real story about the assassination attempt on Hitler by some of his closest officers. They didn't succeed and were executed.

Jussi, you know what's so funny? Those same remarks came from the (still living) family of Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg. But... this exact Colonel was a member of a secret German cult around the poet Stephan George and especially his work "Das Geheimes Deutschland" (Secret Germany) which aimed to establish a new form of society ruled by a hierarchical spiritual aristocracy, in memory of the Teutonic Knights.
Von Stauffenberg was a devoted Catholic and a descendant of very ancient aristocratic family who despised Hitler and especially his politics of "endlösung" (Holocaust). Initially they supported the rise of the Führer and his ideas of a great German empire but soon after "Kristallnacht" (when the nazis attacked Jewish shops) they turned against him.
I have no plans to see it. I'm quite familiar with the history of Operation Valkyrie. It is impossible for me to imagine Tom Cruise (who I consider to be a personality as opposed to an actor) portraying the Prussian aristocrat Col. Claus von Stauffenberg (spelling?). My imagination is quite vivid but not that vivid...:icon_razz:
