I was recently going through my music collection

looking for duds, and I discovered something that seemed odd to me: albums (or CDs or whatever) that were missing their title tracks! The reason it seemed odd was because I'd always assumed that if an artist named their entire album after just one song, they must have considered that song to be something special. Why then would they name an album after a song they left off? A few examples I found: Lisa Stansfield's "Affection", Culture Clubs "Colour By Numbers", Big Country's "The Crossing", Led Zep's "Houses of the Holy", Sly and the Family Stone's "There's a Riot Going On" (the title song is listed on the label and timed at 0:00). Do you know of any others? And by the way, if you're wondering how I found out the missing title songs existed, I found them later on the B-sides of singles or on 12 inches.

Perhaps its not a case of a forgotten song, but the album title might have something to do with a line in a song or perhaps the overall tone/mood of the album. For example take Barbra Streisand's "Wet" album. Yes there is a song titled "Wet" on the album but the album was titled this because all the songs in some way or another have to do with water. So in the case of Lisa Stansfield's "Affection" this could be the case. All the songs have to do with affection, or love, or maybe its just part of a line in a song.

In the case of Lisa Stansfield ; the song turned up on the b-side of the This is the right time single...and was also featured on the CD version of the album along with 2 additional tracks (Wake up baby and The way you want it).

The title track of 'Living My Life' by Grace Jones isn't on the LP of that name but the track does turn up elsewhere!

think I'll keep an eye out for that one because I LOVE me some Grace! She has a brand new release out now, also.
