Hi I have some Old DJ speakers I don't use any more therefore I want to make
new boxes to put with my home theatre system. I have run the figures through
Winisd and the dimensions given seem quite small. I have seen these woofers
in clubs in huge boxes, therefore find it a little surprising on the size
given.

Can this be right? The size of the box would be smaller than the 10" woofers
I have in the living room right now.
I had these woofers in a 4.59 sq ft box with a square port of 16" x 2" by
15" long. I got to admit the bass was practically non existent in there. I
had these boxes for Dj practicing since I don't do gigs any more, in a 14 x
15 foot room. Someone already told me these speakers only perform well in a
large area where the sound can travel. They were connected with A qsc
200w/ch amp.
The box had a crossover with a mid and 2 tweeters.
I will probably by using these components also.
Also if the software is right, and I want to bring down the Fb, is it better
to increase the box size or just adjust the port? I would like them to go
get approx 30-40 hz.
Lastly do you think they will perform well with a home theatre amp or will I
just be tickling them? Again someone told me these speakers don't sound good
if not driven hard.

These speakers were ment to be in folded horn cabinets primarily, the JBL 4560 single or 4530 double driver version, those are probably the ones you saw.
JBL claims these speakers work in a vented cabinet from 3 to 10 cu ft. so your calculation seems to give a very small cabinet for this driver.
If you like to hear some thumping bass from this (very good back then !) driver you need to design a cabinet with a Q factor of 1 to 1.5 for the complete system, if you go above 2 with the Q factor things get boomy.
The bigger the cabinet the lower the Q factor of the complete system.
I don't know your program, so really can't tell if the design is correct, there are too many parameters that you have to set correctly in a speaker desing program.
If this is the outcome of the design, it'll probably sound awful, if you manage to get the driver in this miniature cabinet 8).Winisd results
