Who were Kikrokos?

I listened to "Jungle DJ" for the first time in a while today, and I can't believe how fresh it still sounds. 1978 - wow. This could still be a huge hit in clubs today. Has anyone sampled it? If not, someone's missed a great opportunity.

"Jungle DJ" has long been one of my faves whether it's the Jim Burgess 12 inch remix or the album version. Kikrokos consisted of some former Kongas members and hailed from France.

I think the tune's a bit corny, but it has its moments. It was the basis for (if I remember correctly) Adonis's 'No Way Back' and I think Risque III (Essence Of A Dream???) - seems so long ago. The influential breakdown was re-edited on a Black Cock 12 in the middle '90s, the leader track on this 12 was (again) called 'No Way Back'.
