Excellent re-issue by Funky Town Grooves records (even without "Tú estás en mi sistema" in Spanish) with a 12" remix and five more tracks from the 80's (but without "Coming to America").

Yes it is longer. Not a different mix, just a longer fade-out.
Thank you for the kind words about the CD.
For anyone interested in buying this SYSTEM- SWEAT CD, but hearing the songs first- please visit our website at Funky Town Grooves | Rare 80s Soul, Funk, Jazz & Hip Hop ?
Also, if you are fans of THE SYSTEM, please check out the ATTITUDE- PUMP THE NATION CD. It is a production "prequel" to the SYSTEM- SWEAT album. David Frank & Mic Murphy honed the sounds and ideas they would eventually use on themselves on this CD. Mic Murphy's vocals are all over the tracks. Funky Town Grooves | Attitude - Pump The Nation
(Question about the Spanish Version of "You are in my System" which do you prefer? The full-on Spanish Language Version or the Bilingual Version?)
Thanks for the answer.
I prefer the full Spanish version but anyway the best version is the English one, more natural of course. Those Spanish versions by non-Spanish speaking singers (I remember versions by Gloria Gaynor, France Joli, Michael Jackson, Jermaine Jackson) are actually just a curiousity.
Hey Donald
Whereas the label Funky town grooves must be commended on their excellent choice of reissue titles it has to be said the mastering (Obviously from vinyl sources) leaves a lot to be desired and at times is pretty awful. I would love to purchase the Attitude cd and forthcoming Mirage compilation but am a little bit wary after being disappointed too often with their releases.
There were some titles that had to be transferred from vinyl, absolutely. I'm loathe to try and defend quality control that happened BEFORE I came to join the company- but things have gotten noticeably more consistent and better. As an example of "better" we have had John Morales (a name a fair amount of disco fans may be aware of) master a couple of our titles (T.S. MONK) and the upcoming Nile Rodgers & Mirage comp.
Having worked for several labels in the past: Universal, Razor & Tie, Rhino and Buddah, I can tell you we have had to go to vinyl at some point on a relatively high percentage of titles. I did have the benefit and expierience of working with top-notch studio engineers which can make ALL the difference. I have brought some of that expertise to bear in my new position.
We do have sound samples (which we never had before and can help you judge) and we have ALWAYS had a returns policy on the website.
I know that , as I was a customer of theirs before I joined.
If you are a "tapes purist" of which there are many- The new reality has been for some time- labels dont always have tapes or can find tapes. And in certain situations the label may "price" you out of using the tapes.
Sometimes you can license only to find the license holder does not have the tapes- but the "old" label does. And now they wont send copies unless you pay- effectively holding the physical property ramsom.
When youre a small label (as we are) caught up in THAT game it does not make fiscal sense to play. When you are selling perhaps 1-3000 of each title (a far cry from the old days) there is little room to give a label who may want in addition to the licensing fee- an additional 600.00 per track for tape transfers. (If there are tapes).
I encourage you to search for and read any posts about recent Salsoul UK and Japanese reissues and Ben Liebrands CD series Grand 12 Inches which detail the same problems and issues about tapes and transfers and eventually going to vinyl that are on this very site.
That's great news Donald! ....i'm Totally aware of the situation out there with regards to master tapes, rights ,costs etc...and i'm pleased to hear you're officially on board the FTG Label as i know you're a stickler for quality....Yes! i am a tape fanatic however if vinyl has to be used and great care an attention to detail is applied as with the case of some labls i.e PTG records and others then thats great!....I look forward to the new releases!!
