    DC LaRue track question

Can anyone tell me where "You Can Always Tell A Lady" was from? A friend of mine last night was pulling all the DC LaRue LPs he had and none of them had it on it. Was it a 12" only release? Any info would help cause I been after this track for years and years and havent found it anywhere yet.

    Hi DJ JM,

I don't remember this song at all. What's it like --- club or camp?

Imagine "Boogie Fever" by The Sylvers with a heavier beat and kinda campy with a touch of club. The song was in the Thank God Its Friday film but didnt go on the soundtrack.

PS Does someone know? I neeeeeeeeeeeed this song

I've asked this question before here, but why are so many great tracks that are featured in the film TGIF not on the soundtrack LP?

That only makes me wish Casablanca put out a "sequel" LP to TGIF, kind of like the time "More Dirty Dancing" was released after the success of the first one. There were many good tracks in TGIF that weren't put on the album. Aside from D.C. LaRue's track, there was also Thelma Houston's "I'm Here Again" and Originals' "Down To Love Town".

"You Can Always Tell A Lady" is a little on the corny side, but catchy nevertheless.

& also 'Romeo & Juliet' by Alec Costandinos & 'From Here To Eternity' by Giorgio Moroder. Yes, that 2nd soundtrack idea would've been good.

I have wanted to compile a 2nd sndtrk for the film but I need the DC Larue track to do it LOL, I have every other song..does anyone know where the DC Larue track is off of? Pleassssssssse someone hellllllllllllllp

Here also is the listing I have had for the tracks not on the soundtrack..let me know if im missing any besides Larue:

From Here To Eternity - Giorgio
Romeo And Juliet - Alec R Costandinos
    It's Serious - Cameo
I Am What I Am - Village People
    Hollywood - Village People
Let's Make A Deal - GC Cameron And Syreeta
    Brick House - Comodores
    Easy - Commodores
Love To Love You Baby - Donna Summer
Down To Love Town - The Originals
Im Here Again - Thelma Houston
    Meco's Theme - Meco

now i need DC Larue and I beleve I have them all

Also while were on the topic of the TGIF LP, they put edited versions of many tracks on it so, why not instead of waisting a whole record by putting 17 mins of "Je'Tamme" and then a blank side, put like a 3 min edit of that and then at least some edits of most of the other tracks ya know?

You're so right about that. I think the people at Casablanca (or motown) must've been on some weird drugs or something.

If youre still there DJ Jimmy, I dug out my UK 12" copy of D.C.LaRue's 'Let Them Dance' & what was on the b-side? Non other than 'You Can Always Tell a Lady (by the company she keeps)! :o I'd totally forgotten that this was a b-side in my collection
Youre right, on listening to it for the 1st time in ages, its corny but very catchy & camp! So this is what you need to be looking for; I dont know whether this was only on the UK pressing or not; maybe someone here may know the answer to this one. Good luck in your search for it!

The Casablanca US promo I have of "Let Them Dance" is their standard one-sided issue.

If SteelyDan's UK version is on the PYE label, then GEMM has quite a few up for grabs --- reasonable prices, too.

I hope you're not the guy who won't shop on GEMM. I remember someone saying that not too long ago.
