this comic book is probably the best ever in the genre. kudos to writer Alan Moore -who didn't want his name on the film- and the drawings of Dave Gibbons, who did the poster for the film.

word is pretty good on the film...

I have to agree, I've also heard the movie is well done, I also understand that the ending will be different than the ending in the comic:icon_confused:

Watchmen has got a 18 certificate in GB and very nearly got one in my country as well - huh? I'm no fan of film adaptions of comics - apart from Barbarella, Diabolik, Baba Yaga and the more recent Sin City of course - but this seems interesting if only for the supposed roughness of the content.

I'm impressed with some of the details on the screen: there is one set that is supposed to be 44th Street and 8th Avenue in 1985: it looks EXACTLY like the location did at that time, right down to the signage.

Maybe we could borrow that set to do a Hi-NRG party

Nano, you could almost smell the rancid gyros and see the tranny hookers in the shot...

Well, it opened and we handed over hard earned money to see it, hoping for the best. There was a trailer for the upcoming Star Trek movie before the main feature, and this got the trekkies around me all excited - you could smell it as the sci-fi nerds don't seem to pay much attention to things like personal hygiene. Not a good start. The opening credits for the Watchmen built with imagery of classic Americana raised hopes very high though. But the film...as you swoon down to the streets of the dystopian NYC what rises up towards you is every cliche you don't ever want to see again. Nearly 3 hours of it, too. It's not violent, it's not sexy, it's just horribly NERDY. The smell from the concert t-shirts seemed to intensify during the extremely lame superhero/superheroine sex scene, the nerds were probably creaming their trousers. I should have walked off at that point but stayed on for some reason until the predictably pathetic end. A massive turd of a film, do not see it.

I beg to differ this time... For me, the film is very good. In fact, I liked it more than THE DARK NIGHT. But then again, I loved the comic book and the CGI are excellent.

Of course, the material seemed more suited for a miniseries than a film, but still it's a hell of a job.
