The track is from Sam Records.
I know this song, but I don't remember the name :(
I think it is a combination track which samples Jamaica Funk amongst others.
The track is here at 4:06 in on the right hand deck blue label

A real love!
That horn riff sounds a lot like "Funkin' For Jamacia". I know that's not it...but might help. I'll look around my collection. I've got some SAM 12"...
It sounds like "Wikka Rap" by "The Evasions". It was a British spoof recorded in the early 80s. Side one is a comedy rap in the voice of a British reporter, Alan Whicker. Side Two, which I suspect was on the clip, is the same track but instrumental. In the US it was on SAM. In the UK it was on Groove Productions.
Good call, DannyBoy! "Wikka Wrap" has that same "Funkin' For Jamacia" riff. The instrumental version might be what's being played. Here's the vocal (complete with SAM label!):
Hard to compare it to the club video. Never heard a club where the conversations nearly drowned out the music!! Usually it was the other way around!!
Yeah, I'd kill to be in a club where Jimmy Ross mixes with Secret Weapon and the Evasions! I enjoyed the clip though. It's nice to see a Prelude 12" spinning on the decks, even if the sound isn't up to scratch (pun)! I might even spin my own copy this evening.
I only just registered tonight. I was browsing the forum, hoping to find something interesting. Usually, the questions have been answered already. I couldn't resist joining up when I spotted the Evasions. I hope the original poster comes back and we've got the right answer.
As I say, I've only just registered and don't know how this all works as yet. Compilments of the season to anyone out there.
Danny, Phil, Renan,
I think you've cracked it. Listening to the "wikka" version on YouTube it is the same track but with a vocal. I've ordered the 12" thanks to your id. The b side has a track called "all wrapped up" on it, which I hope means Alan Wicker has decided to stop speaking. Happy Christmas to you and have a good New Year!!!! Thanks a lot.
