Over the years disco music has had it's share of artist who have cover disco songs.
Examples:
Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe (Taylor Dayne)
Turn The Beat Around (Gloria Estefan)
I Will Survive (Diana Ross)
Please Don't Go (K.W.S.)
Which is your all time favorite disco cover song(s)? Also, which artist from any genre would you like to see cover a specific disco song? Personally, I thought Taylor Dayne did a good job of covering Alicia Bridges "I Love The Nightlife - Disco 'round" on The Disco Ball. They have similar styles in there voices.

Al the covers you site are just straight copies of the original versions. What Gloria Estefan did on Turn The Beat Around was too similiar to the original, same as the Nu Yorican Soul stuff - if it was on the radio quietly in the background you wouldn't know it wasn't the original. Pointless!!!!
I'd like to hear someone do something that wasn't already a disco record in a modern disco style.
I think the Andy Gibb ballad "Don't Throw it All Away Our Love" - could maybe be made into a good uptempo dance track.
Leather is the way forward!

Thanks for your comment Leatherman. :D While I do understand what you are saying and agree, somewhat, with you on "Turn The Beat Around" I don't agree that all the songs I posted are straight up copies. You may recall KC & The Sunshine Band's original version of "Please Don't Go" was slow tempo, while K.W.S. was uptempo. Barry White and Taylor Dayne sound nothing alike. The male & female version of Barry's classic have there own unique styles. Although there are some similarities with "I Will Survive" I think everyone could tell the difference between Gloria Gaynor and Diana Ross who gave the song a 90's dance style. Although a more unique version of Gloria's classic was done by the rock group Cake.

I know some very original cover versions that's worth mentioning here:
Gwen Guthrie's version of the Carpenters "They long to be Close To You) from '86. Gives a good example of how truly innovative Gwen's work often were. She is sadly missed.
Also, Guitarist Larry Carlton made a highly enjoyable jazz fusion workout out of "Knock On Wood" on his "Discovery" album (1987)
I remember in '89 there was a really good version of 'I Will survive' that was unrecognizable as it was sparse & dark deep house with male spoken vocals. I loved it, & it gave a totally new twist to this over-played classic! Trouble is, I can't remember who it was by. :-? I'm pretty sure it came from NYC.
...ya gotta beat the street......
Vincent Capretta, LSA Records, 132 BPM?
Sounds familiar.

I just saw the cover photo of this guy on his 12", "Never Knew Love Like This Before". Farrah Fawcett hair (only dark), full makeup and jewelery and a 5 o'clock shadow :-? . (Strangely, he still looks good.) WHO WAS THIS GUY. Never heard of him until now. Anybody have info? It seems most of his songs were covers:
I WILL SURVIVE
IN THE BUSH
IT'S MY PARTY
NEVER KNEW LOVE LIKE THIS BEFORE
TURN THE BEAT AROUND
Love Has No Time or Place
Nicky
Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Anyone?
Cathy Dennis - Touch Me is a very good cover.
