Reading about Len Boone's "Love Won't Be Denied" reminded me of another Disco tune nobody's ever discussed here...
Dana & Gene's "Dario, Can You Get Me Into Studio 54"...
LOVE, LOVE LOVE this bubblegummy, sweet, feather-light happy tune!! A guilty pleasure for sure!
Questions:
CD availability?
WHY isn't it on Youtube? (I've been spoiled...I EXPECT Youtube to post it)
Does anyone else here like the tune?
I've heard the original (by Kid Creole), but it pales in comparison to D&G

SRG, good call on this one. I had never heard this version before until Music Choice played it one Sunday when it was Classic Disco hour. Like you, this version is superior to Kid Creole's. Also, notice how the lyrics on D&G's version are different than the one with KC. D&G's were apropos for the time it was released (1978 perhaps?) while KC's, released around 1980, had lyrics relevant to the post-disco mentality. I can't find this song anywhere either.

I've always loved this RCA 12in by Dana & Gene.
Found it in a used record shop back in the days - I only bought it because it was very cheap and I figured a disco single that mentioned Studio 54 in its title couldn't be bad !!!

It is on my iPod and I still enjoy it today whenever I play one of my many Disco Playlists.

Dana & Gene's version recorded for MidSong Records, is the original version.
It was written by August Darnell.
Darnell recorded it, as Kid Creole, a year later.

I had the good fortune to be in-touch with 'Dana', a few years back. She's a very, very sweet lady.
