    Disco 3

This latest CD from the Pet Shop Boys is absolutely brilliant & their best for 7 years IMO. :P Its infinitely better than their dismal 'Disco 2' offering from '95, returning to their 'roots' by actually including a Bobby O track 'Try It (I'm in love with a married man) & every track is a proper song with the remixes of previously released tracks being recognisable & not pandering to current 'trends'.

Well done boys; one of your most loyal fans was about to give up on you after 'Release' from last year!

I second that. "Release" had some good songs, but the production made them sound like anything else on the radio these days and was a major turn-off.

Some of the remixes are rather generic-sounding, but then again, most dance music is very generic-sounding these days, so I guess they're just catering to the market.

My only real issue with this album is the overuse of autotune on the vocals. Neil has a wonderful voice, and it pains me to hear it mangled this way. Again, this is another annoying trend that hopefully will die soon. I predict it will soon sound as dated as sampled vocal stutter effects.

Still haven't been able to get the vinyl with the bonus mixes though... HMV got a few copies but sold them all very quickly. :(

You're probably right Graham as I think some of those late 80's 'sample' tracks by the likes of Coldcut & Marrs sound so dated now but when they came out everyone talked about them like they were the coolest thing ever! I think records which rigidly follow trends always sound dated quickly.

Better than "Disco 2", not as good as "Disco".
