    The worst disco record ever

Much as I love this music, there was some right shite made in the name of disco.

One that comes to mind is Linda Clifford's dreadful cover of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" - which was particularly crap.

Anyone who collects the Prelude label will have had the misfortune to purchase the "Pinnochio" LP - which is, in my opinion, unlistenable.

Though it's not the worse disco record ever made Kool and the Gang's "Everybodys Dancin" is an example of a great band making thier worse LP whilst trying to be "disco".

Oh, Graham I knew you'd go to The Merm for your "worst"!!! The LA Times actually reviewed the re-release of the Merman Disco CD a week or so ago. I should re-type it here. They wrote about it like it was actually played in Discos in 1979!!!! DUHHHHH.....can you say "clueless?????

What about "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by that sacred cow around here: Alec R. Costandinos?????? Gag me. Is there anything worth listening to again on that LP????

Those Disco-concept LP's (based on novels or plays) really make my ass tired. You know who I'm talking about... Yeah, I said it. PRETENTIOUS with CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!!!!!!

Give me a good old radio disco tune any day!!! Uh-huh, uh-huh, I LIKE IT!!!!!!

Leatherman: Worst ever? Hmmm difficult 'cos I'm sure I wouldn't have let my delicate ears and disposition to be polluted by such a thing.
Baby Face - Wing & A Prayer Fife and Drum Corps or Disco Lucy - Wilton Place Band must be a contender.
Otherwise, Disco Tex - Get Dancin', Rick Dees - Disco Duck,
Walter Murphy & Big Apple Band - Fifth of Beethoven, Love & Kisses - I Found Love etc, etc, etc.
Do I smell cheese or is that Shakespeare's old codpiece?

Over here, somebody released a Micky Mouse Disco record around 1980. Haven't heard it but I know Micky was singing all the classics.....I feel love, Don't Leave Me This Way etc..

Yes; the first two or so minutes of side 2. Camp, but beautiful... at least until the dialogue starts.

Yes, they can sometimes be ridiculous, but they're still have wonderful melodies, arrangements, and performances -- and that's what I'm listening to, not the silly lyrics. Sometimes you need to look beneath the surface.

And as silly as some of those concept albums are, at least there was some imagination behind them. It seems every song today has only one of three basic themes:

"Ooh, I Love You, Or Something Like That!"
"I Want You Inside Of Me"
"You Little $@#! How DARE You Break Up With Me! I'll Show YOU!! I'll Diss You In Front Of Everyone, Spread Your Dirty Laundry Across The Globe, Burn Down Your House, And Trash Your Credit Rating!! 'CAUSE I'M BETTER THAN YOU!!!"

The Twins' 'In The Year 2525' was the absolute nadir for Salsoul.

DREADFULLLLLL!!!!!!! and I am a big Preluder!!! I bought it in 1980 for the unique reason to have a missing Prelude, listened to it dj-style, felt disgusted and put it away.

Another horrible Prelude is ROSKO Desiderata (12") aaaghhhh

pretty bad stuff here on that album including shake it baby, and love attack.
    DISCO

The word evokes not just a type of music or a kind of dance or even a style of dress.It\'s also a new social order of black and white, gay and straight, rich and poor, all hot, sweaty and, most likely, high, together.

This is only a matter of taste, but I totally disagree with U Quinny about Walter Murphy and Love and Kisses . I don't know how you can name tese ones on the worst disco LP ever ???

Disco Duck by Rick Dees is a ridiculous song, but I don't think it has been lade to be a good disco song.
