Want to know the beats per minute (BPM) of a Disco dance song? Now you can simply plug in the song title or artist and get the results instantly at:
http://www.discomusic.com:8080/disco-bpm/
This URL will probably change in the near future so don't bookmark it yet. You can always access the most current URL from the menu at the top of the page by clicking the "BPM" link.
The searchable BPM database is a work in progress that has been going on for a few months now as it was extremely complex, but it should be ready for prime time. We want your feedback so please use it and post any bugs and/or thoughts here. Also if you have the BPMs for any song titles or specific mixes not listed then please post them here and they'll be added soon.
A super big thank you goes out to DiscoMusic.com member Lance Andersen who spent countless hours making this work on the server and for sharing this with all of us.

A big "THANK YOU" to you and Lance. This was/is a huge task and adds to the reputation and knowledge of discomusic.com.:icon_mrgreen:
...but...
Is it possible that we can view the whole list as one? While I appreciate the ability to "search", I would get more if I could just view the whole list as one long page/document that would start from lowest BPM's and moved up in chronological order.
Just my two cents.:icon_lol:
or list it alphabetically by song title? Seems very weighted to the Eighties--but it was just random records in no order that I saw, I didn't know how to find anything---is the Seventies stuff pending? :icon_eek:
How were the bpms determined? By counting with a stopwatch or using some computer program? Just curious.![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Glad you like the BPM database. I hope others are finding it useful and come back to it again and again. More titles are added each day. It now contains about 7,200 songs and counting so viewing it as one list is not practical.
Please feel free to add any song titles that are missing from the database to this post and I'll add them as time allows. The info should be in the following format for each song:
Song title [mix/version]:
Artist:
Label:
Format: LP, 12" or 45
BPM:

The database was something that i put together when I was DJing regularly in the early 80s. There are over 7000 titles in there. Yes, the BPMs were calculated by counting, I believe I grabbed a few from DMR.
If you do a BPM range search, they are ordered by BPM, otherwise it is just based on how they were loaded into the database.
I can easily add an order by radio button for you. Or always sort by BPM based on the collection.
I added the scrolling to allow you to move from page to page as there are over 7000 titles.
They way i used to use it was to search by BPM range to what got my fancy for the next mix or to search by artist.
Again, I am happy to look at adding features as we move forward, I just wanted to share what I had put together with everyone.
