no 3 is my kinda music - excellent.
The piano playing sounds a lot like Rodney Franklin. not sure though. It could also be one of the early 80's jazz funk bands like Konoia, Pocket Change or Fatburger.
Here is the next installment of the ongoing Wally mystery tunes.
1. instrumental to me it sounds like a dub version of Sparks "Music You Can Dance TO" but not 100% sure can anyone confirm my educated guess?
2. Male vocalist, alternative dance, possible title "Maybe I Feel"
3. Instrumental early to mid eighties I believe
4. Electro possible title "The Times Are Changing"
you can hear these clips at my home page:

any help willl be greatly appreciated

#3 I should know. I have it on a Trocadero tape....but I can't place it right now. I think it is mixed with "Earth Can Be Just Like Heaven" by Two Tons....that's what keeps popping up in my gingko-boloba-addled brain. Gawd, this drives me nuts. I'll look tonight...if no one solves the riddle by the end of the day.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Or is it the instrumental part of "Earth Can Be Just Like Heaven"? That is what is resonating now...or is it cause that's what my brain has memorized because that's the way it was mixed. This is dangerous!!! I often hear the next song from a mix....even when it a song is being played in another context. DUH!!!!
But the early part sounds like Two Tons, doesn't it?
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Hey Marky,
I downloaded the Two Tons Of Fun song and I can see how it would mix well with mystery song #3 but I don't think it's the instrumental version of the song. K-Bee thanks for your sugestions I downloaded several songs from the groups that you mentioned and loved them all. They styles are very similar to mystery song #3 but all the ones that I downloaded had a much more mellower tone to them.
Yetta
Sorry Yetta,
NO LUCK YET. BUT, I know this. I can't believe no one else has solved this riddle. PLEASE don't make me spend all weekend listening to every tape I have!!!!!
I think this is the instrumental break of something....Revanche ("Music Man") is in my head this morning...but that doesn't seem right.
The Two Tons song mixed into "Traffic Breakdown" by Boogie People. Not what we wanted. Then I thought this song mixed into "Baby I'm Burning"....but that wasn't it either.
I know the answer is in something I have. And I don't think it's that obscure either. It's just that a passage of instrumental music is tricky to pinpoint when it's not heard in the context of a song.
Come on, someone must know this!!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Marky,
You're definitely on the right track cause when I hear the sample, I start recalling a woman's voice saying something about "the golden rule" or "always follow the golden rule..."
Could it be Two Tons on a Sylvester record? I played all the Two Tons stuff I have and it wasn't there. Stupid thing is, I know I have this song, at least the vocal version, somewhere in my collection, but probably on a CD comp.

Bernie,
The "always follow the golden rule" is from "Earth Can Be Just Like Heaven"!!! That's what I heard too...but I played the 12" last night and that's not it. But the instrumental passage starts out with that same "da-da-dah" riff, however then it gets jazzy with the piano and the trumpet and the Two Tons song doesn't. I listened to "I Got The Feeling" also and that wasn't it either. But it's on my Troc Anniversary Tape, I'm positive. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!
Paging Nicky!!!!!! Or Keefe!!!!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I don't know if this will help but Wally mixed from "Lined Up" by Shriekback into mystery song #3 which is only 1:51 in lenght into "I Got It" by Jayne Edwards
Yetta
Yetta, I think that's it---it's part of the opening to Jayne Edwards' "I Got It". This sounds right. There is a looooong instrumental passage befor the vocal starts.
Check that one out. :D
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Marky,
I just pulled out my 7" of the the Jane Edwards and low and behold on the B side it has the instrumental entitled "Harmony/I Got It" (intrumental) Mystery solved.
Yetta
Yep Yetta,
It just came to me that it was titled "Harmony/I Got It"!!!!
Thank gawd, I didn't have to plow through all my tapes!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Re mystery song # 4. I got a clue from someone at the CNFY
site. He said that the song sounded as if were produced by a man name Georg Kajunus between 82-85. I went to AMG to check it out and there are two possibile groups. The first one is a group called Data. Allbums "Opera Electronica" (82) and
"Elegant Machinery" (85). Unfortnately there is no play list for either album. The other one is Peter Godwin's "Images Of Heaven". The play list fot the Peter Gowin is incomplete. Is anyone familar with either of these artists. I have a feeling that mystery song is most likely on one of the Data albums. I've tried to get info on them through the net but have come up with nothing. Can anyone help.
Yetta
I just emailed some guy in Sweden who's a Data fan. He replied quckly and said the sample is definately not Data. I guess the search goes on (siiiiiigh).
