80's every first Tuesday of the Month at the Copa?!

I used to go to the Copa in the 80's when there was a group (usually drag queens) that would meet up and it would be the best dance party at a club since the 70's! I can't for the life of me remember this close knit group of people that put on these parties, but it would be great if they are still doing them...I know I would want to go!

I believe it would fall on the first Tuesday of each month..mostly at the Copa...does anyone else remember these great disco parties (circa. 1986)?

If you're talking about the Copa in Ft Lauderdale, then I'm sorry to inform you that it's no longer there. It was badly damaged after the last serious hurricane we had pass our way a few years back. After sitting empty all that time, I believe it was finally torn down. Maybe Stephen Freeman can inform us more.
And if it's that Copa that you are talking about, you're right! Tuesday nights were fun. It would all start with the Gay Roller Skate night at the rink a block away from the Copa. They would give you a free drink coupon, and naturally everybody would walk right next door to the Copa after the skating was done. Such great times!

I wish I could remember the troupe that did these specials nights...they were so much fun!

However, the Ft. Lauderdale ones sound like they were a blast! =]
