All began by far before 1969, and began from Vladimir Mulyavin himself, when he was learning at music secondary specialized school in the Russian town of Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg). Being 14 years he was already good instrumentalist in playing jazz and classics on guitar. Little by little acquiring the knowledge he acquired the real taste of folklore. Than were the years of the service in Red army in the orchestra of the Belorussian’s military district staff. After demobilization Vladimir Mulyavin decided to stay in Minsk.

In 1969 Mulyavin at last convinced the Minsk State Philharmonic Society to create a new band. Maybe that day can be reputed as the birthday of “PESNYARY” (means “TROUBADOURS”), one of the most strongest and brightest bands of Soviet epoch. For the first time Mulyavin thought to create a slavonic folk band to unite belorussian, ukrainian, russian songs. But in spite of relationship of these languages the differences in the melodic structure of songs were very deep. In that way Mulyavin chose only belorussian folklore and the band began to play, making the “old-folk” songs to sound in another-new tune.

In 1970 PESNYARY won at all-Soviet-every-year-competition in the best song performance, than played at the music festival “Sopot” in Poland, and in 1972 recorded the first LP. In 1973 PESNYARY won at all-Soviet-every-year-competition in the best song performance again and than were invited to the “Zelena Gura” music festival in Poland, several months later – the invitation to Berlin.

In 1976 PESNYARY made the tour in the south of USA being accompanied by american NEW CHRISTLE MINSTRELS band. In the same year PESNYARY were invited to Cannes, where were playing only those bands, which “pressed” at most the quantity of disks per year in their one’s people lands. After that concert all the hall made a storm of applause to PESNYARY, being stood.

During all band’s carrier, the art of PESNYARY, became well-known to listeners from France, Germany, Switzerland, India, the lands of Latin-America and Africa. and the band has very many rewards and winners in International and Soviet music concourses.
