Eagle Rock Ent. just announced that they will be releasing a DVD on Duran Duran for their album "Rio". It will include some behind the scene footage and exclusive interviews of the band.

I just wish they'd put out some of the alternate versions of the album (of which there are four, including the CD version which is supposed to be the original LP, but differs slightly). The versions with David Kershenbaum's remixes on side one are how most people in Canada and the USA heard Rio, but they've never really come out on CD.

Hey, EightiesBaby80 . . . I dig those 5 "Wild Boys" . . but I especially adore their '97 tune "Electric Barbarella" and cannot for the life of me understand why it didn't do better on either the pop or dance charts ???

DD's albums are full of filler. And why do they keep letting Andy Taylor in and out?

Generally, they were dancier and longer and included some vocals not found in the original mixes. Some of them ("My Own Way" and "Hold Back The Rain") were initially on the North American version of the Carnival EP (the contents of which vary by territory). Two different versions of "Hungry Like The Wolf" are used depending on whether you've got a 2nd or 3rd version of the album. The second version uses a more rock-sounding mix, while the third (and most common) version uses the "night" version found on the UK 12" single.

The CD release returned to the original tracklisting, except that "Hold Back The Rain" uses a different, previously unreleased mix, and "Save A Prayer" uses the 7" version which has a very very minor edit compared to the LP (15 seconds of the ending refrain chopped out, losing a bad edit along the way). Supposedly one other song is slightly different from the original LP too, but I can't hear it.

The general consensus is that he bailed because he didn't want to do an album with Timbaland.

Judging by the dismal sales of Red Carpet Massacre, DD's fans didn't want them to do an album with Timbaland either.

I'm not much of a fan of Timbaland's work either (though I like a bit of his stuff with Aaliyah), too electronic for my taste. So what the HECK is he gonna do with Chris Cornell?

Always liked DD's music throughout the various stages of their career. "Hungry Like The Wolf", "Rio", "New Moon On Monday", "The Reflex", "All She Wants Is", "Skin Trade" and "Sunrise" are just a few of my faves from them.
