MJ and Billie Jean

In the "Michael Jackson Top 5" thread, Billie Jean is high on a lot of lists. Who can refresh my memory on the 'scandal' back then with this song. I remember someone wanted to take him to court for stealing the song but I can't remember artist or title.

Yes, I'm sure. The claim was the bassline in "Billie Jean" was exactly the same as... a rock song?

Maybe it's called "Do It Again". I can hear it, but I can't pull any more lyrics from this tired brain. :roll:

NickNack: In that case it was Steely Dan 'Do It Again' from '73 (a much played record by me and others back then). No mo re similar than Hall & Oates really, although there was the disco version with Billy Jean & Do It Again that came out in '83 or thereabouts by...........Club House was it, that did reasonably well for me. Didn't know there was litigation in the air though.

Steely Dan, "Do It Again". OK, that's the one. You might be right about no litigation. Maybe everyone here was just talking about it constantly and then that Club House mix came out. Thanks, Quinny. That was really gnawing at me.
