Lowrell Simon released a great soul and boogie LP on AVI records in 1979 (LOWRELL AVI 6070) with production of Eugene Record and arrangements of the great Tom Tom 84. Mixing credits are to Rick Gianatos (AVI in-house mixer).

The album contains some super super classics: "Mellow mellow right on" (one of the REAL classics, with almost 11 minutes of listening pleasure in both the vocal and instrumental versions, recently sampled by someone, maybe Chemical Brothers) and "Overdose of love". Both tracks were issued also as 12"s.

Later on, in 1981 Lowrell released another 12" on the ZooYork label called "Love massage", a very sought after classic for the lovers of obscure underground.

    Two things:

    - Masdefi: If you type Lowrell in the GEMM search engine provided on this page you will find many items, from 12 inch to 7 inch to LP. So it is possible to buy online... And I believe that I have "Mellow Mellow" on a UK published compilation CD at home. But I know you only want vinyl, so...

    - Wasn't TomTom84 a computer program that was designed by/for Earth, Wind & Fire to orchestrate those difficult horn arrangements? I know "it" also arranged the Fan The Fire album by The Impressions, and I am pretty sure I have seen it mentioned on other albums, too (Rufus? Toto? I would have to look). Who knows more?

As far as I know, Tom Tom 84 was a nickname for Tom Washinngton, a soul funk arranger of the mid seventies, who is credited on many records of the time.
