STEPHEN L. FREEMAN : Ooooo!!! The "Progressive Instrumental Remix" of this!!!
It was created to capitalize on the success of the instrumental intro, "Vertigo".

Thanks for the tip Stephen !
Never noticed the remix release ! Checked my records though and I've got it! :icon_cool:
Hard to believe there is even more of a presence of strings to be heard on it ....:icon_cool:

Both that 11:22 remix of "Vertigo" and the disco "Free Ride" are available on CD (for years now) on Dan Hartman's Keep The Fire Burnin' CD.

    Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K.

Also on there...his demo of "Living In America" for James Brown. It's the exact same backing track with Dan singing a la James. I think I like it better then James!

It seems to me that the title song «Keep The Fire Burnin'» is made from bits, pieces and leftovers of «Relight my fire». Anybody can confirm that?
    Thanks in advance.

It's a very 90's sounding track, with the title line and some others from the vocal track to "Relight My Fire". I think I listened to it once.

Not to burst the bubble, but I think the ladies are singing, "This ride is hot...just get on top"

Altho', the imagery of the former is much better! :icon_razz:

Yes, I have this in the depths of my collection, the instrumentals and Loleata Holloway make this hit for me. Dan Hartman's vocal on the other hand..ehhh...hmm...

My suspicion is that this is a promo only, dj only release, never released commercially...This song has such a high energy, yet elegant sound with a fantastic intro

Re: The other version of VERTIGO/RELIGHT MY FIRE

In about 1981 I heard a remix of Vertigo/Relight My Fire that extended the instrumental section of Vertigo to great effect but seemed to then fade in the original version within the mix. I never knew what it was called. Ben Liebrand has a mix of it on one of the Grand 12inch CDs which is how I remember it without the fade in but it now has a percussive breakdown at the end to a cold finish (which all sounds original to my ears) and clocking in at around 12 mins. That is now the best version in my opinion.

I thought Free Ride was a disco remake that he did for the group he used to be in (Edgar something).

    Yes Tony
Free Ride is a remake of the Edgar Winter Group's 1972 single.
Dan was indeed a member of the group.
