As Billboard magazine celebrates the 50th anniversary of the inception of its Hot 100 Pop Chart (begun Aug. 4, 1958), the mag also compiled a list of the 100 MOST successful artists on the Hot 100 based on the artists' overall POP chart performance -- such as number of tunes to make the weekly Hot 100, weeks at #1, the rankings and wks in top 10, in top 20, in top 40, in top 100 (The Beatles are #1 partly on the strength of the fact no one has yet to top their record of 20 #1 singles, though Mariah Carey is closing in). As can be expected, many disco era artists made the cut, so I decided to list for your interest/convenience BOTH those ranked artists that primarily recorded disco tunes AND artists known for other non-disco genres of music but who recorded well-known disco-oriented tunes, just to see where some of your '70s-era faves ranked in terms of overall Hot 100 Pop chart performance -- Dr. Love.
