As Billboard magazine celebrates the 50th anniversary of the inception of its Hot 100 Pop Chart (begun Aug. 4, 1958), the mag just compiled a list of the 100 MOST successful tunes based on their overall POP chart performance -- such as weeks at #1, wks in top 10, wks in top 20, wks in top 40, wks in top 100 ("The Twist" tops the list due to its separate #1 chart runs in 1960 and 1962). As can be expected, many disco era tunes made the cut, but God knows, the list below represents some of the most overplayed tunes of the disco era, as even every Grandma in Peoria was shaking her booty to many of the tunes listed below -- Dr. Love.
