Hi Dayna. I know it's a bit of a dull question but I would like to know what inspired the girls to put that fabulous jazzy piano bit on the end of 'The Man In My Life' on their '82 LP 'Girls Will Be Girls'; it's a favourite track of mine.Thanx.
If anyone has any questions they would like me to ask..
Founding member and guitarist/Vocalist of the group Klymaxx..Cheryl Cooley please submit them here..would love some from you.
Thanks.
Klymaxx had big hits with such dance Floor classics as
Meeting In The Ladies Room
The men all Pause
and ballads
I Miss You
I'd still Say yes

...ya gotta beat the street......
Hmmm . . . here goes my attempt at crafting a question for you, Dayna (and thanks for offering -- please edit, edit, edit to your liking):
Question for Ms. Cooley:
As an all-female band in the '80s, seems that Klymaxx charmed the soul/funk/dance crowd in the mid-'80s much like the Go-Gos captured the pop/rock/dance crowd in the early '80s.
Did Klymaxx have any true contemporaries in the '80s R&B field that they looked up to??? Reason I'm asking is that Klymaxx seemed to be so very unique in that they expertly handled vocals AND instruments, something that mid-'80s female-group hitmakers The Mary Jane Girls, Sister Sledge and The Pointer Sisters can't lay claim to.
If its not a touchy question to ask, could you perhaps ask what lead to the demise of the group and how does Cheryl view this period now?
I am definitely going to get into the dynamics of her Guitar stylings..
I always ask who influenced them or who they look up to or both..
great minds think alike..I'm also going to ask how she felt when people got Klymaxx and the Mary Jane Girls confused"and alot of people did".
Thank you sweetie
Oh WOW, this is got to be a powerful interview. I still have my copy of VH1's Bands Reunited and that one had to have been the most exciting one of them. There was crying and threats made on that show and for that one member to take over the Klymaxx name not letting the other ladies know...man, that was a very engrossing show. I will wait with anticipation for this one. I have no questions but look forward to hear your questions Dayna and the ANSWERS!!! Hopefully Hurricane Ike wont blow away my Computer here at work.
DANCE!!-To the BOOGIE WONDERLAND........
Stay safe, Pepper1Dancer . . . after last week's hurricane experiences, am GREATLY hoping for speedy restoration of your utilities should they go happen to go out. Ain't too much fun sleeping in da heat![]()
Dayna: I don't know if you saw VH1's "Bands Reunited" when they tried to reassemble the original members of Klymaxx but there's MUCH bad blood between Cooley and the remaining members....one of them walked out in disgust when Cooley entered the room and the rest apparently refused to perform with her, because she wasn't present when they finally did play. You may want to ask her why they resent her presence so much....it's been a long time since I saw that segment but as I recall they're angry at Cooley for using the Klymaxx name now without their permission and against their wishes.
This probably won't make the cut, BUT I always heard there were Lesbians-- make that Lipstick Lesbians- in the group.True or false? Names and who was doin' who? :icon_twisted: OK, you don't have to ask that last part.
But was some of the "drama" inside the group due to that?

"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Hi Dayba
My question is :
"Were Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis involved with their 1983 album called Girls In The Band and why was it shelved by the label ?"
KRIS
I WOULD be interested to hear about the group's experience working with Jam and Lewis. I read somewhere that when Jam and Lewis produce other artists, they almost always just hand the artists complete rhythm tracks and the artists only add vocals and "sweetening". I'd suggest not asking about sexual orientation since it has no relation to the music....and how would most of us react the total strangers asking such a person question anyway?
2 more points Dayna: if possible, it would probably be interesting to talk to another member of the band to get their points of view, especially on the subject of Cooley continuing to use the band name....if I recall correctly, Lynn Malsby is still in the L.A. area. And lastly, have you thought about doing a video chat so that you and your interviewees can see each other?
That would be Like The Carol Douglas and Sharon Brown Interviews I did..
:icon_eek:lol..
I can communicate just as well via the phone at lunch or by whatever means it happens, also another X member is using the Klymaxx name Illegally..I will get into that in the interview as well..
Thanks Mr Ree..OH and I would not ask about her sexual preference ..TRUST THAT..
I dont care if they munch rugs or smoke poles that's they're business
As long as it isn't for the republican party~!!!..:icon_lol:
I'll get ready for election 2012:icon_smile:
My first duty in office would be to address the healthcare issue and make sure everyone that needed crucial medication would have access.."And with that I dont mean lazy bitchs with period cramps or men with broken egos that need a viagra fixx~!!!
SECONDLY I would make it mandatory for Disco/Dance music to have at least 2 radio stations per so many square miles devoted to the era and sound .
Plus ALL clubs except the ones with Spit-toons must have a Disco night every Friday or Saturday..WITH a knowledgable dj that wouldn't pull out The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack thinking it cutting edge:icon_eek:but Play Obscure underground Disco along with the mainstream .. ...That sounds like a start to me~!!
Dayna's interview with Cheryl Cooley of Klymaxx is now up in the main site at
