I don't know the first one, but the second one sounds really familiar. I think it might be German disco. It's one of those tip of the tongue situations. Arghh!!!
Disco Funk
.. hot out of France is this interesting 3 track 12" EP on the Super Value / special edits label .. it's the first release on this label .. and the only track I'm familiar with is the Billy Paul cut .. listen to the sound-clips on Juno:
SUPER VALUE - Super Value (special edits)
:icon_biggrin:
.. I think everyone here will agree, all 3 tracks are superb slices of soulful disco .. does anybody recognise the other 2 cuts? This must be one of the best value 12" releases of recent times ( .. hence the title)
:icon_cool:
DiscoFunk .. you MUST know these tracks ..

Disco Funk
I think track one is Asphalt Jungle "Freakin' Time"
which also came out in a remixed/remodeled version as Funk Fusion Band "Can You Feel It"
.. many thanks Ashley .. you are perfectly correct .. I'd forgotten about this U.S. WMOT jazz-funk classic from 1981 ..
:icon_razz:
.. cheers .. what a memory you have ..
:icon_biggrin:
.. the original is still available on the Norman Jay CD compilation "Good Times vol 2" :
Joey JAY & Norman/VARIOUS - Good Times 2 With Joey & Norman Jay
I found on another website that these tracks are titled 'Feel', 'Sunshine' and 'Dollar' on this re-edit. So I'm guessing track 2 has the word 'Sunshine' in the title? It still doesn't ring a bell, even though I know I've heard the track before. I looked through the vault, but without success. I think it must have been on a CD compilation.
Edit: Okay, I knew I knew it!
I downloaded it off of West End Records website years ago. I don't recall this being on any CD. Nice groove. Oh yeah, and good luck finding a copy! :)
Disco Funk
Disco Funk nice spot on The Chuck Davis Orchestra "Spirit Of Sunshine" track, I thought it sounded familiar but I couldn't place it, and this sounds really bad - I've had my copy of this in a small section of records that need a really good clean - for way too long, I'll have to give it a nice clean tomorrow.
.. thanks Ashley & DiscoFunk .. nice bit of detective work ..
:icon_cool:
.. seems the Chuck Davis record is one of the very rarest & most hard to find of all the disco records .. making this re-edit an important purchase ..
:icon_biggrin:
.. and thanks Disco Funk for providing a full length mp3 sample of the original tune, so I can compare the 2 versions ..
:icon_biggrin:
.. the re-edit is almost the same, but with extended string hooks during the first half of the tune ..
:icon_lol:
.. cheers again ..
Well I think you should be able to find a copy of The Chuck Davis Orchestra "Spirit Of Sunshine" fairly easily, I could still find a copy on the web in the UK for £30 not exactly a bargain but not too bad.
I wonder what this non Moulton mixed version is like: Chuck Davis Orchestra Spirit Of Sunshine (12") Disco Music.com
As you like a re-edit did you get this one "DJAZZ - All I Can Do" for the two tracks on side 2, Jermaine Jackson "Erucru" and Dizzy Gillespie "O-Zone Madness"
not rare tracks but the Dizzy Gillespie never made it to a 12" and the re-edit takes out some of the cheese from the original version.
DJAZZ - All I Can Do I've temporarily joined the Juno publicity department - just kidding.
.. hello Ashley
:icon_question:
.. where can I buy "Spirit of Sunshine"??
:icon_eek:
.. I've tried E-Bay, Discogs, Netsounds, MusicStack & Gemm .. and found nothing ..
:icon_eek:
.. please please tell me where I can find a copy ..
.. £30 sounds like a steal ..
:icon_eek:
.. many many thanks ..
