All began in 1972 in the town of Gomel’ of Soviet Belarus’ when brothers Robert and Mikhail Bolotny became the leaders of the band, called “SYNAJA PTITSA”(means Blue Bird). In early times the band played the songs of foreign authors and musicians. The guys played only on “dancings”, but rapidly had got the professional sound and began to win in many municipal and republican musical competitions. In 1973 the band began to work under direction of the Gorky (now Nidznij Novgorod) State Philharmonic Society. In 1974 was recorded the first mini-LP, in 1976 – played the first Moscow tour. In 1977 the band became the laureate of all-Soviet-every-year-competition in the best song performance, so the press became light up the works of the band in newspapers and TV. But after 1988 when the “new standard” of perestroika-lowprofessional pop sound came to radio, TV and concert halls, the legendary Blue-Bird-Band didn’t want to took any place near such new musical neighbours: the band made USA-tour, but in 1991 split out, and Bolotny Bros. remained in US… Up to this time 8 LPs, 2 compilation LPs and 11 mini-LPs, recorded by the band (from 1974 to 1990), were out of print in millions and millions editions in USSR.
