Ok, that reminds me of a rather
shameful thing I did concerning the first double LP
Diana Ross & The Supremes Greatest Hits. :icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_redface:
Thommie,
I told you before that I had
limited funds and
many records to buy...so when the
Supremes Greatest Hits came out---I had to pass. I had all the hits already and it was pricey for me as it was a double LP. I'm trying to recall what that would have cost in 1967? $12.00 ???? or is that too steep? But I wanted to see the poster drawings of the Supremes inside the package. Anyway, I hatched a plan.

A friend of mine named Kathy was having a birthday and I proposed to 3 or 4 friends that we buy Kathy the Supremes LP--
not that Kathy really wanted it--
BUT I DID!!!! :icon_twisted: I volunteered to buy it and they all coughed up a few bucks and off I went to Ladysmith with my parents to buy it. I did so and it sat in my room sealed for several days. ......Then I got tempted. :icon_evil:

:icon_exclaim:
I wanted to see the drawings of the girls inside. But I couldn't open it--it was a gift!!! :icon_confused: I was a good boy-- way too much Sunday school--didn't do bad things....
but I wanted to see it. :icon_twisted: Anyway my inner turmoil got the best of me and, of course, I slit the plastic on the side to see if I could ease it out without making it too noticeable ...but, damn it!!!-- it was folded so I couldn't ease anything out and had to rip the plastic off to get to the damn drawings!! Yeah, I did it. :icon_twisted: And I played the records too...once or twice. :icon_rolleyes::icon_redface::icon_lol: Then I wrapped it up and presented it to Kathy at her party and I was sooooo busted as the other people who chipped in said
"Hey Mark where's the plastic? You opened it. That's not a gift. Why would you do that?" :icon_cry::icon_rolleyes::icon_redface:
BUSTED. I sheepishly tried to say "oh it came that way" and they said "yeah sure."
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BUSTED. All for the love of Miss Ross.
