Nice of you to bring him up, midas.
I don't think Eugene Wilde was very popular outside the U.S.
Nevertheless, He made some great 80's (if somehow poppish) R&B. Most people will probably remenber him for "gotta get you home with tonight" but in my opinion, the best track he made was the more upbeat "personality".
That one was not very typical for him - he was mainly a balladeer. And one of my favorite ones too.
His sister Dee dee made a great R&B album in 1988 "No Way Out" on which Eugene also appeared. I don't think he's made any music that I've heard of since 1992.

He has a brother too, Al Broomfield, who recorded as "Broomfield" for an independant US label in the late 80's

My favourite track by Eugene was 'Let Her feel it' which was put out under the artist name 'Simplicious' in '84. I guess it was considered by Fourth & Broadway (his record company) to be too 'high energy' in style which was at odds with his hetero balladeer image at the time.

    Steely:
That info seems very strange to me - I have never seen "let her feel it" under a different artists name at all.
I have two versions of the track under wilde's own name.
One is one the debut album (4th & broadway, 1984) but there's a remix on the b-side of the "Personality" 12" which is also on 4th & broadway.

More info on this "Simplicious" thing would be appreciated...
