Have you checked here : Chris Rea
There are several 12" with various versions
I don't know how they sound like, but discogs is a good site with also records for sale.
Where can this version be found on vinyl please? I cannot seem to find it on any 12". Is it an album only version perhaps. Maybe someone can help? I have been looking for this for ages. It must be this exact version please. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, Yes i did check out Discogs but there seem to be numerous versions of this track available in various formats. I think it will need to be someone who has this exact version to know which record it is actually available on. I have been told it could possibly be on very early pressings of the Shamrock Diaries LP.
When I saw this post I thought "a ha! It's gotta be
the same mix I've been looking for" but alas-it's
not! I've been looking for the vinyl 12" of the "La
version Francaise" for years now,Regardless,I love
the mix you posted-truely a beautiful,timeless track
no matter which mix you hear.
Thom
Thom,
Did you ever find the "La version Francaise" you are looking for?
I assume its this one? Chris Rea - Josephine
This release as you probably know. came with a sticker on the front of the sleeve saying "La version Francaise". It does come along on ebay quite a lot. Hope you soon find it.
I have made some enquiries today and i am reliably told that this version was indeed on early pressings of the Shamrock diaries LP. Problem is that i have contacted many, many people today who are selling the LP and they all have the later updated 4.26 version included. This os one track i am fated never to get i fear!![]()
You're welcome !
This 12" is the earlier-mentioned "La Version Francaise" :
- "Josephine" (Version Longue) (5:35) ( Producer - Stuart Eales )
... or does only Thommy look for that version ?
Is the mix you're looking for different than the one on "La Version Francaise" ? ... and if so, was it only pressed on those earlier releases of the "Shamrock Diaries" ?
If the earlier pressings of that album might have a different catalogue-number than the later pressings, then it could be easier to find it.
Otherwise you could e-mail various sellers online who have the album for sale, and ask them if it contains the version which you're looking for ...
... i presume that the particular version endures longer than 4:26 minutes ?
Yes indeed. It is only about 3.52 in length. I think it might well be the short version which is track A2 of the record on the CD&Lp link you sent me. I will order that 12" anyway. It might be the one i need. Hope so!:icon_lol:
Thanks Ilove and Boogie-I'm really nervous about buying this cause I've bought it 3-yes,three times!!
All the incorrect mixes-once due to my not paying attention and twice because it wasn't labeled right. And
of course they were all imported from Europe-maybe
i'll try again! thanks again guys! Thom
dear thom
im really happy to fond someone who loves the same version of Josephine I do, you can find it in "KUSCHELROCK VOL 2" it is some seconds longer at the end, but it s the same version you're looking for, I uploaded to this link in my rapidshare account if you want to listen to it before you buy the cd:
