Sarah Vaughan "discofied" The Beatles
I just listened to this album for the first time and was surprised at the disco feel of some of her Beatles cover versions. "Get back" and "I want you (she's so heavy)" sound like she was in the Trocadero, I think
Not much jazz here, just some stilyzed singin' from one of the best throats in America's history. The arrangements and session players -by Marty Paich and the Toto guys plus many others who appeared in Steely Dan records- have a 70's TV-show feel ideal for nostalgia.
The record was released in 1981, but I hear it was in the shelves some two years after it was actually made.
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)
