On Marky's charts for the last five weeks
Denver Colorado has singularly found a club favorite off of General Johnson's first solo effort LP on Arista:
78) DON'T WALK AWAY - General Johnson
(Arista LP: 4:12/ 12" single: ???) P: General Johnson & Rick Chertoff // W: G. Johnson
3 points/ 1 chart = Denver
BDA Top 40: n/c
DCC chart: 5 weeks on chart // Last week: #79 (+1)
To my ears the song has a pleasant (yet sad) , somewhat of a throw-back, Spinners /Thom Bell feel to it ....
GENERAL JOHNSON - DON'T WALK AWAY
Horns and strings arranged by Motowner David Van De Pitte --- the fellow who did the same work on Eddie Kendrick's BOOGIE DOWN .
Other familiar names are Ralph McDonald doing percussion and Patti Austin providing some back-up

Prior to going solo, General Johnson was the distinctive lead vocalist for CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD :
