    3 more--circa 2000-2006!!!

OK, 3 more---don't have much to go on here...so I'll just dump 'em all at once and see if there's any recognition from the guys that know the more recent stuff...[2000-2006, approximately]

    1) "I Came For You"(???)...... sounds like it uses a sample of the instrumental track or sample of British group Sniff 'n' the Tears' 1979 rock hit "Driver's Seat"....[refresher course: the original was used in the sequence at the drug dealer's house in 'Boogie Nights" ...I think it was the track before Alfred Molina [the drug dealer] played his mix tape that started with "Sister Christian"]... ....this version has a long rockin' instrumental followed by a vocal that repeats the phrase "I came for you" over and over...male vocal... somewhat like what Steve Perry from Journey or REO Speedwagon or someone in that genre would have done. :icon_question:

    2) "Rebel, Rebel"---"filtered disco" version --whatever that means???--that phasing in and out through a wind tunnel sound!!!... of the David Bowie Seventies rocker. :icon_question:
[update: I see that Dead or Alive did a cover of this on some Glam Rock tribute cd....have to check that out...do they do "filtered disco"?--that Spiller "Groovejet" sound??? that's what I heard...the sample was less than a minute with no vocal, just the intro...so I'm not sure.] :icon_confused:

    3) female vocal-- reminds me of Olive's "You're Not Alone" in sound...ethereal soprano...singing something like "it's gonna be a __ time tonight" over and over....maybe the missing word is "fine" or 'high" or something..it's a one syllable word..but I can't be sure what it is. ....all over a house or trance beat. :icon_question:

[SOLVED: "It's a Fine Day" - Miss Jane]

OK, ready. set. go. Any help much appreciated. Good luck so far this week--but I had better clues then, didn't I? :icon_lol:

The third one sounds like It's A Fine Day. Opus III was the original. Miss Jane's version is the more recent one(from your time frame).

Blame_My_Pecs has come through once again!...
The instrumental with the Sniff 'n' the Tears sample of "Driver's Seat" is the rockin' "Supergood" [original mix] by Dab Hands... not sure if the vocal line I heard was from a different mix of that tune or a totally different record...but this is the main track. There are some other remixes that sound nothing like this on YouTube...a 2007 mix is hyper-fast!!

My thanks to Mr. Pecs for his amazing detective work!!!

this is it from You Tube...Fatboy Slim uses it in his show...I guess...

A bit of trivia that may be of interest (or not): the singer of the Opus 3 version of 'Its a Fine Day' is the daughter of Alan Hawkshaw of Love Deluxe fame!

For some reason marky I'm just really interested by how nepotistic (is that a real word?:icon_mrgreen:) showbiz is.:icon_confused: I'm really sad 'cos I seem to remember unimportant facts that I've read but totally forget useful things!:icon_redface: At least it keeps me off the streets!

OK, solved this 2nd part myself....

the first was "Supergood" by Dab Hands [thanks to Blame_My_Pecs] --can be heard in the Fatboy Slim video several posts above.

The original source I heard must have mixed "Supergood" into this...they mix great...it sounds like this 2nd track samples Manfred Mann's "Blinded By The Light," written by Bruce Springsteen!!!!
