So, I am a huge Patti kick these days, filling in a few gaps in my colelction with her 1977 debut and 1980's Released. The standout cut for me is "Dan Swit Me"-I cannot get enough of it's thumping little beat, funky piano and horn stabs. It sounds like disco done N'Awlins style. Such a little corker!
So, who's on board with me here?![]()
"I come from a world where there's nothing you can live for, except when day turns into night, I'm a star in neon lights..."
i'm not really a fan of Patti at all but my favourite Patti cut is
WHEN AM I GONNA FIND TRUE LOVE
I like the punchy horn arrangement on Patti's "Dan Swit me". It's one of her funkiest and follows the vein of tracks that were earlier produced by Allen Toussaint.
Love it Front-also discovered a few years ago "Joy
to have your Love" which slipped by me when it was
released.Has anyone heard of a track by her called
"Get Ready"? There is a Ron Hardy edit lurking around
somewhere out there, but I'm unfamiliar with even the
original track-maybe early 80's? Thanks
Thom
I Love Dan Swit Me BUT my all time favorite Patti track is "Little Girls".. Hauntingly Beautiful and if your a woman you can SO relate.. some men too
BTW..I'm not letting anyone that has to look up the word DISCO in the Dictionary in order to spell it give me cause to leave..I have invested too much time and love at DiscoMusic.com
I was going to leave the forum but I cant do it..
Your stuck with me..![]()
.....and all the members breathe a huge sigh of relief. Can
you imagine life around here without our beautiful Dayna? I'm still in shock that Stephens gone-a huge
loss for all of us.I have learned so much from all of you
out there and I hope to learn more.I'm sending out some
disco love to you guys in hopes that we can appreciate
each other more.
Thom
Get Ready is from 1980's Released! AWESOME record. Love to know where that Ron Hardy edit is from...
Joy To Have Your Love is great-agreed.
And Dayna? Why would you have ever considered leaving?Tsk tsk, do not deny the people your fabulous self!![]()

Ok Front try this http://www.dhpmixes.com/mixes/ronhardycodsb.mp3 and see if this sounds different than the version on "Release"(it's the second track)It comes from this awesome website Gridface click on Ron Hardy and listen to mix 861
And I just got this in the mail and have been cranking
it all day,
Even though I have most of it on other things,I had to
hear the never released version of "Released" and guess what's not on it? "Dan swit Me"!!!! damn!
Patti LaBelle did a song that I thought was absolutely wonderful (but it appears few people have heard)....it's a churning ballad called "The Last Unbroken Heart" and it's a duet with songwriter/singer Bill Champlin. It's buried on one of the "Miami Vice" soundtracks and will remind many of "On My Own", but I like it more as I can only take Michael McDonald in very limited doses. It's probably on YouTube if someone wants to check it out.
thinking about it.. my three favourites are:
On My Own
When Am I Gonna Find True Love
and THE AMAZING... Come What May :icon_surprised::icon_surprised:
HER BEST TRACK IMO
I think the Ron Hardy of Get ready is on this
