Since the 1990's I have been searching for the name of a band making a kind of "jazzy slow rock&roll" but I was not able to describe it properly.
Recently I listened to the song "Mercy" by Duffy, which has become very famous, and it may be a good starting point for my description.

First, take the song "Mercy" by Duffy.
The female voice and her way of singing is very similar.
About the music: the atmosphere is 1960's, either, but less "electric" than Duffy's, and a little bit more "jazzy".
It's the same kind of "slow rock&roll" (or fast blues?) as Duffy's, but with more riffs, more nonsense words vaguely similar to "do-be-do-be-do" or something like that, and sometimes a rhythmic talking that cannot be considered rap (it is slower and less complex) but it can't be considered regular talking either...
It is a rhytmic talking (think of the beginning of "Let's twist again", possibly slower).
The vocals are mostly female (or *only* female?).
Even if the music seems from the 1960's or even late 1950's, the band is probably from 1990's (or 1980's?)

Any idea?
Or is my description too crazy to resemble anything?

Thanks
