Dayna, I'd love to know how Scherrie feels about the Partners project after all these years? And also, what her fave Supreme songs were on the the three LP's she cut with them! Scherrie is such a dynamo voice...:icon_razz: Excited for the interview.
It's been awhile since I did an interview so I asked Scherrie Payne and she gladly and graciously accepted my invitation..I will be taking questions for Scherrie ,so if you have anything you would like me to ask her and I think it
appropriate I will gladly do so..
and Thank you in advance for those that participate..and NO she wont pull a Tata Vega:icon_eek:...

Dayna,
I'm curious to know about the final years of The Supremes...
How were they treated by Motown in the final years?
Did they beg for more promotion of their records?
Was there ever a plan to release a 12-inch of any of their later dance hits?
When "I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do the Walking" hit #40 on the Pop chart on 8/7/76 ....[#25 Soul]..their first Pop Top 40 charting since "Automatically Sunshine" reached #37 about 4 years earlier [on 6/3/72]...did they feel like they were about to make a comeback?
Did it make any difference in the way Motown treated them?
Members here seem to love the "High Energy" and especially the "Mary, Scherrie & Susaye" LPs [whenever they're mentioned, people post]...Both got a good response from the dance charts....but only tepid results on the Soul & Pop charts...when did they know it was over for the Supremes? When the singles failed to ignite the charts? Or was it already over when the record was released?
Were they just dropped from the label?
Did any other labels attempt to sign them?
It always seemed such a shame the way Motown just ended their careers when they were still doing excellent work...:icon_confused::icon_confused: The Supremes brand name deserved better after all they'd done for Motown.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Given the drama potential, I'll keep this question on more neutral ground..
My question is, with the two lineups she was in (Mary, Cindy, Scherrie/Mary, Scherrie, Susaye) what did she feel was each lineup's strength and perhaps each lineup's weakness..
Looking forward to this one, Dayna!![]()

Hi Dayna ,
Yo know me , I always want to know all things disco ....
so my curiosity is on how conscious were the girls that their mid seventies LPs had strong disco appeal ; did they think at the time that they were making "disco" ??
---- and was seeing their music doing so well on the disco charts a source for satisfaction (despite lesser radio success ) ?
Also both HIGH ENERGY and THE SUPREMES Mary, Scherrie & Susaye were produced entirely by Brian Holland . I wonder if his commitment was in part due to Scherrie having been an artist on his INVICTUS label ??
Finally :icon_mrgreen:....
I love this record :
Maybe she has something /anything to say about it.....( like why/how the four of them united to make it! ) ... AND particularly if she was directly in contact with its arranger: the mysterious John Davis ???
Thank you !
Good luck !

The Scherrie Payne Interview is completed..
I just need to fine tune it..But I have been very busy and hope to do it very soon..I am working with Meli'sa Morgan at the moment plus have 2 other projects going..I'm very pleased with the Interview I think you will be too
D
In case anyone wasn't aware of this..Lynda Laurence's House burned down then her father passed away..
So Scherrie has been lending her support to Lynda in this time of need..We still have a few things to finish and iron out with the Interview but it will be published as soon as it it fully completed and tweaked..Dont give up hope..Plus I have a Corey Daye Interview in the works as well.Corey is feeling better lately, she has lupus and has had some pretty rough times with it.I will get some Dr Buzzard dirt and her solo career as well..POW WOW is a favorite of mine
Thanks
Dayna
