The Addams Family - some snippets on the Destination lp
Sea Hunt - Patrick Cowley
The Jetsons - Tee Vee Tunes (not sure if it was the original or an updated dance version)
OK senior Disco gurus...
Outside of television shows that originally had Disco theme songs such as "The Love Boat", going back in time to older shows from the 1950s-1960s, how many theme songs have been converted into Disco?
For example... "Peter Gunn" by Deodato.

"Because there's music in the air."
I believe the 1986 Tee Vee Tunes remixes are more House than Disco and done post Disco era. The Jetsons song is actually entitled "Jane, Get Me Off This Crazy Thing!".
Also "snippets" don't count
Has to be complete "disco" songs that fell between 1974-1982 but the shows could have been aired between 1950s-1960s (thinking many shows on air in the 1970s will already have a discofied theme).
Eric
How about Route 66?
"Because there's music in the air."
I am thinking there was a "Route 66" song but by who? And no, not The Manhattan Transfer.
Eric
fun topic, Eric !!!
Let's see, I'm thinking:
Kojak Theme (series began around 1973) by John Davis & the Monster Orchestra (recording shoulda been 'round 1979).
Also, both The Deadly Nightshade AND Sounds of Inner City recorded danceable versions in 1976-77 of the theme from Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (which began airing nightly in Syndication in January '76).
. . and from your rules ("outside of tv shows with disco themes"), I take it you're excluding "Charlie's Angels" and "Theme From S.W.A.T." and "Makin' It" . . . as all 3 themes were disco-friendly when they were originally recorded:icon_exclaim:
Didn't the Universal Robot Band do a take on the Flintstones theme?
Aoogah...aoogah...ding...ding...ding...ding...
HeeHeee...drlove, your selections fall outside the rules. :icon_razz:
The record could have been released in the 1970s but the theme should be from a show prior to the 70s. Nice try though and suggestions!
Eric
Graham...
Give the man a cigar! Good find though a lousy song from 1976.
Another one that is obvious but often overlooked... "Disco Lucy (I Love Lucy Theme)" by Wilton Place Street Band from 1977.
Eric
Well I don't know if it classifies as pure disco but I know the themes to all of Gerry & Sylvia Anderson's series ("Supercar, Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, Capt. Scarlet, UFO, Joe-90, Space: 1999") were remixed into dance versions in the early 90's. And the original theme to "Space: 1999" was a very disco-like number done in 1975 composed by Barry Gray.
There have been house, techno and disco versions of the theme to "Doctor Who".
There was recently a techno house version done of the "Love Boat" theme...
Eric,
I'll have to send ya my address so that you can mail me my year's supply of Turtle Wax as sorta a "thank you for playing, but get yo butt off the stage" :icon_redface:
The Theme from Star Trek was done by Van McCoy, Gene Page and Meco.
Can we count Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone by The Manhattan Transfer? The whole Twilight Zone theme is in the song.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the shows that Cdnbob mentioned (like I was), they were British TV shows. The "Space 1999" sci-fi show looked interesting and ran between 1975-1977 but don't think I have ever heard the themes here in the states?
And to look back at how naive we were to think that within 20 years we would be living on other planets, have robots serving us, and navigating flying cars. Oh how time slips away :icon_eek:

Not really a disco-producer, but some cool jams though

I remember "Eight Is Enough" having a very disco-ish theme sometime around the third season.
Also, there was a TV sitcom starring David Naughton called "Makin' It", from which that song came.

Can I please please mention the Wonder Woman theme? Not totally disco but not too far. Was it ever released on a record?
Also someone told me they released a Dallas soundtrack back then? :)))
PS: :) @ Adrian Zmed in TJH clip, I gotta dig up the dvd box
You are correct. There was a 12" version of "Wonder Woman" released in 1979 by the Wonderland Band. Here is a .ram link: http://www.wonderwoman-online.com/sounds/band.ram
There was a Dallas Theme song but haven't located it yet other than a newer 2003 mix. There was one done before that.
Eric
Thanks Eric, but this doesn't sound like the tv show theme at all?
I know but the link is from the Ultimate Wonder Woman website. ALSO... Bernie linked the same at our own Disco Music 12" pages with label here: Wonderland Disco Band Wonder Woman Disco (12") Disco Music.com
Who will argue with him?
Eric
I think Destination did a disco version of the "Addams Family" theme on their From Beginning To End album in 1979.
