At this point we'd be more likely to see them reissued on vinyl. The CD, along with all physical media, is dying fast.
what albums still not yet re-issued onto CD do you really, really, really want? what would you like to see released.
sadly there are possibly a hundred i could think of but right now off the top of my head..
- Gwen Guthrie - Portrait (1982) -- my avatar
- Patti Austin - In My Life (1983)
- Jennifer Holliday - Say You Love Me (1985)
- La Toya Jackson - Imagination (1986)

thanks, Jackson9, for the fun thread. Imagine -- our own wish list if we could bend the record execs' ears -- we might have better luck winning the lottery !
I would LOVE to see the Ritchie Family's AFRICAN QUEENS (1977) on cd, though many of the individual tracks are already scattered amongst R.F. compilations and other disco compilations (such as those that feature the funky, awesome Quiet Village).
The complete T.G.I.F. Collector's Series 12" singles. Including "You Can Always Tell A Lady..."

There are so many albums which weren't issued on cd yet :icon_sad:
The complete work of:
Costandinos
John Davis And The Monster Orchestra
THP Orchestra
...
BTW, the last Unidisc cds I ordered, are of higher quality and look really good. Now they put a paper box around the cd cases and new cover art.
Sadly, their catalogue at unidisc.com is out of date.
Has anybody an updated catalogue or a link to an online-shop where to order their complete releases?
It is amazing how UNIDISC CDs are hard to find - and I'm in Montreal...
My best bet is when I visit this local record store's website and type in some random name and go : "Oh it is available ???" - hard to find in stores but if you drop by and give them the # ; they will order it and have you pick it up a week later.
Although every year around gay Pride celebrations in Mtl ; they will roll out EVERY disco compilations & best of they can think of to benefit from the annual "Big Disco Ball".I often see stuff I'd never see otherwise.
Bought all of Patsy Gallant's CD and also a TOULOUSE compilation last year.

4. Patti Brooks's albums
5. The Arthur Prysock album produced by John Davis (title?)
6. The Gloria Jones album with "Where is the Love" (title?)
7. Zulema albums
8. Roberta Kelly albums
9. Early Miami Sound Machine album with "I Want you to Love Me" (title?)
A Re issue of Baby it's Me
Ross the one with Sorry Doesn't Always make it Right and Lovin Livin and Givin.

Is that the Taana LP with "When You Touch Me"?
She has an ad-lib, buried in that track, where she says "I Got A Body Spasm". My friends and I would go all crazy-spasmodic and act-the-fools on the dancefloor when she'd say that! I think they call it "kronkin'" today.:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

I want FRANCE JOLI's WITCH OF LOVE and ATTITUDE on CD.
UNIDISC should work on this...cuz Sony will never release them that's for sure.

It's mind boggling why these were never released on cd. And the Witch Of Love cover photos were so great.
I want any and all Gregg Diamond on cd. I've seen Hot Butterfly, and the occasional single show up on a cd compilation. But is there anything else? Especially Hardware and Tiger Tiger.

Sony probably won't ever release them to Unidisc either! Major labels are notoriously difficult when it comes to licensing their material, even for things they never expect to release again.
Regardless, the era of CD reissues is over. Sales of CDs are half of what they were a decade ago and continue to fall. Loads of prominent back-catalog albums are going out of print. Half the record stores in my city have closed, and the few remaining ones are focusing on video games and DVDs. Big box stores have scaled their selection way back. No place is carrying "deep catalog" or obscure imports now.
If these things get any sort of legitimate release, it will be download-only. And then there's a good chance that they'll just use whatever MP3 they can find floating around on the web, since many of these labels couldn't even find the original tapes if they wanted to use them.
All true !!! Sad but oh so true.
Our best bet is still transferring every song ourselves from our original 12inches and Lps !! I've done it for both these FJ albums - as a bonus I added the according 12inches to the playlist. Homemade but still the next best thing !!
There was an article in the METRO paper commenting on the new interest in new vinyl releases.

I bet it looks nice.
The downfall of digital music is that we lose all this great cover artwork. And my hope with every cd re-issue is that they'll take advantage of the booklet insert and add more liner notes and photos. So much lost opportunity there. I mean, wouldn't you like to see other pictures from the album cover photo shoot? Or more biographical details. And comments from the artists/producers?
"Because there's music in the air."
That's what I do. Scanning in the covers and stitching them together is a pain, but it's rewarding work. With some effort, I can often get vinyl to sound better than CDs would, due to the current mastering fads of aggressive hard-limiting and shrill EQ.
I've been reading a lot of these, but I think it's important to note that the "vinyl renaissance" is quite overstated. Sure, records are selling in bigger numbers than they used to, but it's still a very insignificant share of the market compared to CD, even with CD sales falling through the floor. One benefit is that sometimes, new vinyl releases won't have the crushed dynamics that are unfortunately typical of CDs now. So there are cases where the vinyl has much more dynamic range than CD, which is pretty messed up -- it really should be the other way around, but now everyone is used to LOUD CDs, and thinks something is wrong if they put in a disc and have to turn the volume up past 3 before it gets deafening.
Of course, sometimes the vinyl is just a cut of the CD, Waves L3 and all. Total waste of time. Anyway, the audiophile argument for the vinyl comeback doesn't hold much weight, since a lot of people buying new vinyl are playing them back on those plastic USB turntables, which aren't exactly the height of fidelity. Still, it is nice to have full-sized cover art...
For that alone ; it worth hunting them down.
I couldn't help but smile when a semi-young Madonna fan was excited to grab HARD CANDY on vinyl...for over $50.
He ripped it open and explored the artwork ; and never played the disc itself...he kept showing it off thinking it was such a revolutionary thing.
He kept wondering why I was so unimpressed 'bout the whole thing. Then I showed him my Lp collection !!!! :icon_biggrin:
Remember when CHIC released their early 90's album ; Nile was bummed that the artwork wasn't showcased the way it should have been on an Lp because of the size of the CD.
