The 'version' you hear in the film was specific to the film, by the way. The released version on LP doesn't have the song stop, then the gong hit, and the song returns.
And for released versions, the full mix is about 8+ minutes long, which you can find on one of the Kool & The Gang hits compilation CDs. Also, the flip side to the 45 version, i.e. Part 2, is a different mix from the 8 minute cut. It isn't just the full version cut down the middle. That's if you're really into the song! :)
