Smile "Dance & shake your tambourine" as (nearly) featured in "Saturday Night Fever"

.. on the sleevenotes to the excellent "Red Greg / The sounds of Greg Carmichael" CD compilation, Patrick Adams remarks his only single regret working with Greg during the 70s was not fighting harder to get "Dance & shake your tambourine" on to the "Saturday Night Fever" film soundtrack .. apparently Paramount wanted the tune for the movie but Greg said the initial advance wasn't enough for a hit song & refused their offer .. of course, at the time, they had no idea how big the movie would become .. or that the soundtrack LP would sell by the millions across the globe ..

.. which makes you wonder .. had the Universal Robot Band been used in the movie .. which other song on the soundtrack album would have been sacrificed? .. "Disco Inferno" perhaps?? .. or even "Calypso Breakdown"?? .. I shudder to think .. :icon_eek:

I'm glad it didn't. Its possible that it would have been in the movie, but not on the LP, like the Rick Dees songs. If they were going to get a P&P related track, I think 'Love Bug' by Bumblebee Unlimited would have worked better in the film. It's definitely a lot easier on the ears than the Universal Robot Band (for me, anyway).
