Two 12" singles I recently bought sound like artists from outside the disco genre. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether these acts, which I'd never heard before, were recording in other genres.

The first is King Sporty, "Get On Down." The record was released in 1979 on T.K. The second is Nino Tempo, "Hooked On Young Stuff," also released in 1979 on A&M.

Nino Tempo was a sax player who had a huge hit with a rock cover of the standard "Deep Purple" in the early '60's. His sister, April Stevens and he sang the vocals. The record hit #1 on the Billboard chart and won the Grammy for best rock recording. They were billed as Nino Tempo & April Stevens. Later, I think he worked more in the jazz vein.
