Smile Alicia Myers: Spirit of the Boogie

One of my favourite tracks from Alicia Myers along with 'I want to thank you' is Spirit of the Boogie an LP track from 1981. It's like a cross between Al Hudson & the Partners 'You can do it' (which she sings on) and the afore mentioned 'Thank you'. Spirit was a big track in the clubs and soul/disco radio in London.
I recently found an original U.S 12" promo on MCA of 'Spirit of the Boogie'. I had no idea that this existed and have never seen it listed anywhere ever. It's just the LP version unfortunately, but it's nice to have on a clear pressing. Just wondering if anybody had come across this, and in the light of how much Denise LaSalle's 'I'm so hot' fetches on a similar MCA promo wondered if it's valuable.

    Cheers

Right artist, wrong 12". The rare one is "Is It Really Real" which comes in TWO versions.
One is the regular 4:24 album version.
The RARE one has a 6:03 remix of the track. It fetches "I'm so hot" level prices. Oddly enough (or perhaps not) there is a ONE WAY track on the flipside.

I personally never cared for "Spirit Of The Boogie". But I know that in the USA, a lot of "roller skating" jocks loved it- moreso than the club jocks did.

    efunk_adelic:
"Don't stop what you're doin" is from the 1st Lp "Alicia". And wouldn't it have been nice to have THAT on an extended 12".........?

it's so annoying to have most of my stuff in storage at the moment... I can't verify stuff. I used to feature that song at the club i played for.

Mmm interesting I shall keep an eye open for that and see how much it goes for. Do you know which ONE WAY track is on the flip?
